The most successful consumer electronic products in history is iPod. The  best selling mp3 / mp4 player in the market today is reached by iPods too. What causing made iPod a hit ? Of course the combination of sound quality, sleek design and unique user interface. The first iPod was released by the The Apple Corporation on October 23, 2001.

Nowadays we are in the era of the 5th generation of iPod.

1. On the first generation : MP3 player was designed with mechanical scroll wheel and four buttons.

2. The second generation : it was equipped with touch-sensitive wheel, 10 GB and 20 GB hard drives.

3. The third generation : MP3 player owns touch-sensitive bottoms and USB connectivity.

4. The fourth generation : iPod has click wheel, and only two hard disk version, 20 GB  and 40 GB available.

5. The fifth generation : MP4 player comes with 60 GB memory storage and video capability.

Several awards have been received by iPod ranging from engineering excellence, to most pioneering audio product. It frequently receives favorable reviews on appearance, designs and handling.

iPod was planned to be an mp3 / mp4 player for people with an energetic  lifestyle. The Apple Corporation designs iPod to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand or to be carried into a pocket or purse for easy transportation.

Storage capacities of iPod range from 512 MB to 80 GB, and it was designed to produce the best quality sound as an 20 GB MP3 player. The built in  powerful 60 MW amplifier can deliver audio as loud as you want. By having a 20 MZ to 20 KHZ frequency response, which means you can hear distortion free music at the lowest pitches.

iPod battery can last between 8 to 20 hours of music playtime depending on your model. Your iPod will sound great on your home or car stereo system if you use the appropriate stereo adapter. The battery level can be seen on the upper right corner of the screen  through the lcd display. If you want to charge your iPod just connect it to an Apple iPod Power Adapter or connecting it to a USB port of a computer. The iPod as an MP3 player is compatible with the iTunes media library software, which allows you to select your music on your computer and on your ipod. This 20 GB MP3 player can be automatically synchronized to iTunes, with specific playlists or with the entire content of a music library each time you connect your iPod to a host computer.

The first three generations of iPod are equipped with two ARM 7TDMI derived CPUs running at 90 MHZ, while next  models have various speed chips which run at a peak of 80 MHZ to save battery life. iPod has another great feature , that someone can record a discussion and then post the audio file on the internet. Meaning that people can download the file and listen to the file on their iPod. With iTunes 4.9, you can now browse and subscribe to podcasts at the iTunes Website. Radio shows or other audio/video programs that are downloadable over the internet are called podcasts.

If you want to have your battery life as long as possible, then you should consider the following tips:

1.- Use the latest software.

2.- Turn off the equalizer

3.- Use MP3 songs

4.- Store it in room temperature
